Cottage Colors Party "The Color Purple"

"Symbols of Friendship" A beautiful spoon and doily from my friend Sabre' Elise in a Tea Cup Exchange

"Symbols of Friendship" The demi Tea Cup and doily from Sabre'

Purple for me are "Violets" A Name,  My Mother and "Symbols of Love"  Beautiful Memories of  Days Gone By
I'm joining the Cottage Colors Party today to share the color for the month for February, the color Purple. What comes to mind when you think about the color purple? Flowers, the Movie, a friend or something else? For me the Color Purple is the color of love, warmth, affection, kindness and everything that comes to mind when I think of my Mother. Her name was Violet and what a lovely and beautiful person she was in every way, shape and form. This last group is a old photo of my Mom, one of her hankies with her name on it that I gave her as a child for Mother's Day one year. I purchased it in the 5 and dime and a violet demi-tasse cup and saucer. What wonderful Memories these all stir into a cup of beautiful Thoughts and Tea.

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY EVERYONE!

Happy Pink Saturday everyone! Today I'm joining Beverly from How Sweet the Sound for her weekly Pink Saturday blog party and I would like to share with you, myself and my 2 oldest granddaughters collection of OOAK Art Fairies. This collection is meant for them but still resides in my home until they are  much older. This is a Tea Cup Fairy that is part of the collection from a long ways back. It all started when my two oldest Granddaughters were young and we used to read all the verses of the Flower Fairies from Mary Cicely Barker's books. I started a collection for each of the girls and plan on making them a quilt with the Flower fairy fabric from the same line as the fairies in the books for each one of them. It is on "my to do list"! They all usually stay in my curio, but today this one is out to show off what I spent my $55 CSN gift certificate on that was given by Kathy of Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy. Kathy is my Featured person this week and she is really nice so stop by and say Hi! It was certainly not a Need but a Want to have and that is a "Cloche"! This is the smaller size and I picked a larger one to go with it. I just love cloches and wanted one forever. Free why not? Since it didn't use up all the gift certificate I added a little to it and ended up with both sizes. I will have fun displaying various holiday items in these for sure. The wonderful old brass server was my Grandmothers and fit perfect under the smaller Cloche. As I write this post I have been fighting being sick for 2 days and have tons of things to get done, so I apologize in advance if I don't get back to any of you for a day or two, yuk to sick!

What's in Your Cupboard?

Today I'm joining Etsy Cottage Style  blog party "What's in Your Cupboard" so you can see a bit of what is in mine! Way to much I'm afraid, however since everything has a story and each item represents something special from various people or occasions in my life I image most will stay! Of course if something is in there that doesn't fall into these categories it will go in my Shoppe. I'm showing some of our Wedding china in the last pic and giving you the story of that since the rest are separate stories. "American Beauty Rose"the name of this china is a sweet story all in its own. My dear Mother-in-law picked out our china as soon as she knew we were to be married. Being from Canada and this was her only child, her son, my soon to be Mother-in-law decided if her son was marrying an American and she thought I was beautiful, (hence the name of the china) then this was the perfect china for us. She went and registered for us in Detroit and Canada and made sure we would have all the proper pieces. I really didn't know the reason why all this china started arriving before the wedding until years later. Getting married at such a young age we hadn't even given a thought about any of these trivial things. Heck, we just wanted to get Married and as you can see from the previous post a whirlwind romance and fun was to be had. So that is my China story and in case you didn't notice I have a piece of it in my blog header! Don't forget to visit the rest of the blog party participants and thank you all for your visit!

"OUR LOVE STORY"

TWO HANDS.....
BECAME ONE HEART
I'm joining "Share Your Love Story" with Karen at My Desert Cottage for a Valentine's Day Celebration of Love. This is "Our Love Story" looking back in time....
I LOVED TEDDY BEARS and BABY DOLLS and LIVED IN CA.

HE LOVED FISHING and SWIMMING and LIVED in CANADA
THEN THIS HANDSOME SAILOR JUMPED FOR GLEE FOR HE HAD FOUND HIS BELOVED,  AS YOU WILL SEE
HE LOVED THE WATER SO MUCH, WHEN HE GREW UP HE WENT TO SEA, AS A SAILOR IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY AND THAT WAS HOW IT WAS MEANT TO BE

THIS HANDSOME SAILOR WROTE MANY LETTERS and GAVE  ME HIS NAVY RING while HE WAS SAVING FOR THE REAL THING
THE BIG DAY CAME and WE WERE WED

WENT ON A HONEYMOON AS YOU CAN SEE, BUT THERE IS MUCH MORE TO THIS JOURNEY
WE HAD QUITE A LIFE  and the  RIDE WAS SOMETIMES BUMPY and WAS TAKEN IN STRIDE

CAMPING, RIVER RAFTING, MOTOR CYCLING TOO!
THEN BABIES WERE BORN,  FOUR WERE TO BE.... and NOW THESE KIDS had to GROW UP and LIVE RESPONSIBLY (BIG HAIR) and BIG FLOPPY HAT, SKINNY TIES and all of THAT
We knew each other for 6 months from the day we Met to the day we Wed. We met at a party in Belmont Shore while he was on a weekend pass. The first thing he ever said to me is "You are the girl I'm going to take home to Mother," I thought he was crazy, he was persistent and vowed it was "Love at First Sight," for me well, I needed a little more time and I had recently finished a relationship and felt foot loose and fancy free. A few more weekend passes, lots of phone calls and many letters later he stole my Heart for good. We had more fun packed into 20 Wonderful years through the thick and thin, Four Children and a good life full of joys, blessings, ups and downs! I am truly grateful for that persistent young man My Best Friend, Husband, and Father of our Children, he left behind a Family of four Not fully grown,(not by choice) and a Legacy of Five Grandchildren. My feelings are "It is better to be Loved and to have Lost, than never Loved at all." We had the Real Deal, some never find it, some just settle and some just don't know what they have! We were Blessed, would we do it all over again? Yes! In a Heartbeat, I was Blessed, thank God for our time we had and my Love for him has stayed in the recesses of my Heart.... just Memories since 1981, a life well lived, gone but not Forgotten.......            Would you like to see a little bit of that Legacy, then go visit Jill at  Gypsy Brocante for a sweet surprise (granddaughter #3) is whipping up a little Valentine "Chocolate Surprise Cake" just for you and The Porch Club, see chocolate always makes things better!!

PORCH CLUB MONDAY.... Whipping Up Some Valentine Recipe's with Jill

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone! Today we are joining Jill of  Gypsy Brocante who is hosting the Porch Club Monday's Party and we are celebrating by whipping you up a "Chocolate Surprise Cake", my Grandma cut this recipe out of the Los Angeles Times on July 14th, 1977. Well that was way before I was born...my Mommy was just 3 years old.  So here we go..Magic ingredients, 1 pkg of chocolate cake mix (18 1/2 oz) "hope they still make that size Grandma said," 1 pkg of instant chocolate pudding mix (3  3/4oz ) 1/2 cup oil, 4 eggs and 1 (17 0z) can blueberries, drained (save the juice) and powdered sugar for later.  Now combine cake mix, pudding mix, oil and eggs in a bowl. Mix the saved blueberry juice with water to make 1 cup liquid. Add to mixture, mix, (see how I'm doin' it) Now when all mixed up fold in the blueberries and pour into a greased and floured 9 cup bundt pan and Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Remove from oven and cool 25 minutes, sprinkle with powder sugar and serve! Top with lots of Whip cream, Yummo !  Hope ya like it! Give Jill a Big Valentine's Hug for having this Party! My Grandma said to tell you if you would like to read their "Love Story" you should go visit  "Share Your Love Story" at  My Desert Cottage  today as it is all about Love Stories including my Grandma and Grandpa's, Grandma said I'm their Legacy (what ever that is?) and I'm one of their Treasures, I never met Grandpa, maybe I should go check him out?  I bet he would like my recipe!

The Tea Cup Valentine Party Exchange arrived today and my wonderful partner and new found Friend, Sabre' Elise of Heirloom Gypsy sent the most wonderful gifts. I'm so thrilled and delighted that Sabre' was my partner. She must have researched my blog well. I love everything vintage, and victorian and I have a soft spot for Violets, as that was my Mother's name and she was a treasure. Her photo is on the left of my sidebar and she really had some history including her days in Hollywood, but that is a story for another post. I love old dolls, vintage, doilies, silver, flowers, especially Violets and Roses. Violets are much harder to come by in Tea Cups too. Thank You Sabre', my dear Friend, you are one of life's treasures. Many people pass through our life and we vaguely remember, others come into out lives and remain in our hearts forever. Sabre', you are one who will remain forever. Blessings and Thank You! Thank You for Hosting this wonderful party Faith, Hope and Cherry Tea. I'm also linking this to Terri and Martha of  Martha's Favorites  Tea Cup Party at Artful Affirmations
