FUN FRIDAYS

As we celebrate Memorial Day I remember the Sailor who stole my heart, as you can see he was a lot of fun! We married young and had a great 20 years, blessed with 4 wonderful children and his legacy lives on in his 5 Grandchildren. His time was too short and the days we had flew by. I was blessed to have him in my life as my soul mate. He was my Husband, my Lover and my Best Friend. I celebrate this person as he made me complete. He is the always with me in spirit and remains in my heart forever my Best Friend. Many years have passed but he has never left the recesses of my  mind. Hats off to "My Sailor" and all the other military men out there, a very HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

WHEEE---KNOTT"S BERRY FARM TIMBER MOUNTAIN LOG RIDE

A great time was had by all on Saturday when visiting Knott's Berry Farm with beautiful blue skies and plenty of sunshine. Timber Mountain Log Ride is always a safe one for Grandma, laughing and screaming all the way! The girls went on many other rides, then we're off to the "Pink's Famous Hot Dog" stand a Hollywood Legend, with one recently located in Knott's, after lunch more rides and shopping. We finished up with one more ride, BigFoot Rapids. The camera wasn't water proof  and was tucked away just in time before a real drenching! No visit is complete without a dinner in Mrs Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant which opened in 1934 and still remains the same.  I'm thankful somethings are timeless!  Like myself, Haa.. I wish, but happy I'm able to still enjoy the ride!

FUN FRIDAYS

This Fun Friday all started with last weekends neighborhood annual yard sale sponsored by one of the Realtors in our area. My neighbor Deb, from Possible Impossible Studios hoped in her truck and we covered about 50 or so yard sales. We had a great time running from one place to another finding great things. This was my greatest find, a Burroughs adding machine from about the 1920's with original tape intact. The best part of it all was the cost, only $15.00 what a deal. I could hardly lift it but managed to do so since I wasn't going to leave it behind, especially at that price. Apparently it once belonged to this families Grandfather and was used in his store. Imagine the stories it could tell. It now resides on the dresser in a spare bedroom and my youngest son has claimed it as his! I think he is the only one in the family who appreciates my crazy collecting ways and loves all things old. I'm pleased that he liked it so much, after all someone is going to want to keep some of my treasures and it would be nice if it was one of my adult children. Maybe a Grandchild will love this stuff, who knows, as I say to each his own. Meanwhile I will have had the Fun of the Find!

FUN FRIDAYS

Today the fun begins, this is a photo of one of the treasures in my sewing studio, an antique White Rotary sewing machine that was missing parts so it was converted into a lamp. Today and through the weekend I will be cleaning, and re-arranging so I can get down to creating.  I have a few of my paper filigree treasures that will be completed and ready to list in my Lulus Lovlies  Heartful Creations Blog or Etsy. Finally progress is being made. This room is where everything takes place with the exception of half my bedroom which contains all paper goods, german glass glitters, tinsel and other smaller vintage treasure. There just isn't enough space to have everything in one workspace, I guess I have a studio and a half! At least for now. Too bad I need a bed to sleep or I would have more room! Back to work I go!

TIPS for TUESDAY

Easy Deviled Eggs, No, not a recipe! Summer is coming and let the fun begin,  include your children  when planning a picnic, meal or any family gathering. An easy method to prepare deviled eggs with easy clean up and really fun if you have a child helping with the preparation. Place cooked eggs yolks in a ziplock baggie. Seal, mash until they are all broken up, add remainder of the ingredients, reseal, mash again, mixing thoroughly, cut the tip off the baggie, squeeze mixture into egg white half and throw the empty baggie away when done, easy clean up!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY "MOM" YOU REMAIN WITH US ALWAYS!

Mother when you were a child you were adorable, when you were growing up you were so stylish and must of had quite the Spirit! When you met Daddy you were so young and beautiful, when you were a wife and Mother you were so patient, loving, kind and caring. When you became a Grandmother you were all of those and more. You always had patience, love, kindness and caring for all people and a grace that we all aspire to carry. Always with a smile for everyone who came your way. Mom you lived, laughed, loved, endured and left an imprint on all our lives that will remain with us forever. You were Loved! You lived by these words, "I expect to pass through the world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again." I found these words in your drawer on a piece of scratch paper after you left. I still have it in your own hand writing and now I know where I got that "save every little thing bug from." It must be in the genes, I hope I can leave this world half the person you were and tried to teach us all to be, you led by example and lived your days well, God Bless you Mom, you remain in my heart forever "My Mom", I was blessed to have you. Loving thoughts from your daughter, Marilou

FUN FRIDAYS

This wonderful old doll was given to me by a dear friend across the street that is now 85+ and she belonged to her mother. One day quite a few years back as she was cleaning out dresser drawers she came across this little treasure and knowing my passion for dolls and all things old and vintage she thought of me, how blessed I am to have this person in my life and have her pass a few of her treasures on to me. I named this little treasure Edith, she is from the 1800's. Happy Mothers Day to my dear friend and neighbor, you are one of the real treasures in my life. You have always been there for me through the years and will always remain in my heart. Edith now resides in my curio with other special treasures.

THURSDAYS THOUGHTS "A SPECIAL KIND of MOM" HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to All MOTHERS

Most women become Mothers by accident, some by choice, a few by social pressures and a couple by habit, following in the steps of their own Mothers. This year nearly 100,000 women will become Mothers of "Special Needs" children. Did you ever wonder how Mothers of Special Needs children are chosen? Somehow I visualize God hovering over earth selecting His instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As He observes, He instructs His Angels to make notes in a giant ledger. Armstrong, Beth, son, Patron Saint Matthew.  Forrest, Marjorie, daughter, Patron Saint Cecilia. Rutledge, Carrie, twins, Patron...... Give her Gerard. "He's used to profanity." Finally, He passes a name to an Angel and smiles, "Give her a" Special Needs" child." The Angel is curious, "Why this one, God? She's so happy." "Exactly," smiles God. Could I give a"Special Needs" child to a Mother who does not know laughter? That would be cruel. "But has she patience?"asks the Angel. I don't want her to have too much patience or she will drown in a sea of self pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wears off, she'll handle it. "I watched her today. She has that feeling of self and independence that is so rare and so necessary in a Mother. You see, the child I'm going to give her has his own world. She has to make it live in her world and that's not going to be easy." "But, Lord, I don't think she even believes in you." God smiles, "No matter, I can fix that. This one is perfect. She has enough selfishness." The Angel gasps, "Selfishness? Is that a virtue?" God nods, "If she can't separate herself from this child occasionally, she'll never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child that is less than perfect. She doesn't realize it yet, but she is to be envied. She will never take for granted a "spoken word." She will never consider a "step" ordinary. When her child says "Momma" for the first time she will be present at a miracle and know it! When she describes a tree or a sunset to her blind child, she will see it as few people ever see my creations. I will permit her to see clearly the things I see.... Ignorance, cruelty, prejudice.... and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side." "And what about her Patron Saint?" asks the Angel, his pen poised in mid-air. God smiles, A mirror will suffice." "HAPPY MOTHERS DAY" to all the Mothers of" Special Needs" children out there.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Erma Bombeck year 1968

TIPS for TUESDAY

I have decided that it is time to get started on Blogging on a regular basis. In between my week of creating and many others daily tasks I thought I would start with sharing some valuable knowledge. Some you may have heard of, some not. Check back every Tuesday to see if you find any tip that you may have not known or have heard and just forgotten about. Today I'm sharing valuable info about Clothes Dryers. It is easy to actually burn out the heating unit and not know why it ever happened. After all we all clean our lint screens, however if one uses fabric softener sheets over a period of time a film builds up on the lint screen filter. It may look clean but if you run water through it you may find the water may just sit there and not run through the mesh. You can't See the film but if it is there it is a potential Fire hazard aside from burning up your heating element. Solution, Wash your filter with hot soapy water and an old soft tooth brush about every 6 months to remove waxy build up. Takes only a few minutes to do but may be very cost effect in the long run. Your clothes will dry faster and you save energy at the same time. Now go check that filter! Have a great day!!
